Teikyo Foundation – hardware & software upgrade

Teikyo Foundation is a specialist Japanese school based in an impressive period property on a large 20 acre site in Slough, Buckinghamshire.

The Business Challenge

Over a number of years of organic growth, the client had accumulated a disparate collection of hardware and software across the site. The existing hardware (largely PCs) provided Teikyo with varying, but generally low levels of performance, with some machines requiring replacement and some requiring upgrade.

The Centric Approach

We carried out a full hardware and software audit to establish the current position of all machines on the site. We consulted extensively with the client to establish the requirements of users on-site and defined the ‘perfect’ PC setup to meet these requirements. We setup an efficient process to streamline the process and ensure minimum disruption for users.

The Centric Solution

We implemented the ‘perfect’ PC setup across 40 machines on site, cloning this setup and replicating it across all PCs to achieve a standard and consistent setup across all machines, facilitating easy hot desking throughout the site.

Results

We conducted a mass deployment which allowed the entire site to be installed within one day, ensuring minimum disruption to users. The consistency across all machines made it easy for any user to login to any machine throughout the site. A previous purchase of Vista for Teikyo across the site by Centric IT allowed every machine to be upgraded to Windows 7 at no cost to the client, with the entire project being carried out within the existing support contract and annual review / upgrade; the entire project delivered huge value to the client and was implemented at no additional cost.
